How to connect iGMS to RNTX

Request developer access, create an application, and get the access token RNTX needs to import your iGMS listings.

RNTX works with hosts using iGMS to sync listings and keep calendars up to date. Connecting iGMS takes a few extra steps compared to other systems, because access is granted through the iGMS Developer Program instead of a simple settings page.

Before you start

  • You need an active iGMS account with at least one property listed.
  • Getting an access token requires iGMS to approve a developer access request first. This step is done on the iGMS side and can take some time.

Step 1: Request developer access

  1. Log in to your iGMS account at igms.com.
  2. Open the Developer Program page from your account settings.
  3. Submit a request to enable the developer program on your account.
  4. Wait for iGMS to approve the request. You will see your status change once it is approved.

Step 2: Create an application

  1. Once your developer access is approved, go back to the Developer Program page.
  2. Create a new application.
  3. Enter a redirect URL for the application. Any web address you control works, since this address is only used to read a code value in the next step.
  4. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret for your application.
  5. Request these scopes for your application: listings, calendar-control, and messaging. These let RNTX read your properties, update your calendar, and read guest details for bookings.

Step 3: Get your authorization code

  1. Build a link using this pattern, with your own Client ID and redirect URL in place of CLIENT_ID and REDIRECT_URI:
    https://igms.com/app/auth.html?client_id=CLIENT_ID&redirect_uri=REDIRECT_URI&scope=listings+calendar-control+messaging&state=rntx
  2. Open the link in your browser while logged in to iGMS.
  3. Approve access for your application.
  4. Your browser goes to your redirect URL with a code value added to the address. Copy this code from the address bar.

Step 4: Exchange the code for an access token

  1. Build a second link using this pattern, with your own values in place of CLIENT_ID, CLIENT_SECRET, REDIRECT_URI, and CODE:
    https://igms.com/auth/token?grant_type=authorization_code&code=CODE&redirect_uri=REDIRECT_URI&client_id=CLIENT_ID&client_secret=CLIENT_SECRET
  2. Open this link in your browser.
  3. The page returns a short block of text starting with access_token. Copy the value shown after it.

Keep this link and your access token somewhere safe. The link contains your Client Secret, and iGMS does not show the access token again after this step. If you lose the token, repeat Step 3 and Step 4 to get a new one.

Step 5: Connect your credentials in RNTX

  1. Paste the access token into the iGMS step of the RNTX partner onboarding wizard.
  2. Click Test Connection to check that RNTX can reach your iGMS account.
  3. Click Save and Continue. RNTX begins importing your listings.

What RNTX does with your credentials

Your access token is encrypted before it is stored. RNTX uses it to read your properties, reservations, and calendar, and to block dates on your iGMS calendar when a guest books through RNTX. RNTX does not create or cancel reservations in iGMS with this token.

Troubleshooting

  • Your request is stuck at pending. iGMS reviews developer program requests by hand. Wait for approval, or contact iGMS support for a status update.
  • Test Connection fails with an invalid token message. Check for extra spaces when you copied the token. If the token was typed correctly, it may have expired or been revoked. Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 to get a new one.
  • Calendar updates are not applying in iGMS. Your application may be missing the calendar-control scope. Open your application settings in iGMS and request it.
  • Listings look incomplete after import. iGMS shares more property details for its own direct booking listings than for Airbnb or other channel listings. Basic details such as name, address, and bedroom count still sync for every listing type.
  • Any step above unclear? Contact RNTX support and we can help you get connected.
